1. SOUTHWEST FRANCE: GITE DE PECHVIGNE

2. SINGAPORE ACCESSIBLE BUSES

 

Ten wheelchair accessible buses are now operating on the island of Singapore.

 

The service route travels past the Handicaps Welfare Association in Whampoa, and allows its members direct access to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Wheelchair passengers travel in a designated area with handrails and a call button to alert the driver of their stop.

3. COASTAL RHODE ISLAND VACATION HOME

 

Donna Arnold wrote to announce that her family’s wheelchair accessible 4-bedroom, three- bath vacation home on the coast of Rhode Island is now available for rent.

 

The scenic home offers a ramped entry, an accessible kitchen and an accessible roll-in shower with a movable no-slip chair, a hand-held shower spray and grab bars. The toilet has grab bars and a raised seat.

If you’re planning a visit to British Columbia’s Lower Sunshine Coast, Ellen Frank’s “Sticks and Wheels” 120-page guidebook covers accessibility features in that region, including accessible parking to various sites, festivals and venues, and which restaurants provide ramps. Ellen Frank is a disabled travel agent with a good sense of humor that any wheelchair user can appreciate.
